Thermal SPAS / Wellness

Turkey with its rich and curative mineral waters is the paradise of thermal springs and welcomes the ones seeking for good health with its high quality facilities.

Because Turkey is located on top of a major geothermal belt. Thermal spas are one of the most popular and attractive destinations in Turkey. Turkey is in itself a wide-open spa. The Turkish ministry of tourism has listed more than twenty thermal resorts. Most of the resorts are located near the Aegean Mountains and the Sea of Marmara. A visit to Turkey is almost incomplete without soaking yourself wet, in one of its healing pools. In fact, access to these resorts is easy as they lay near the major cities around the country.

Because of Turkey’s location on top of a major geothermal belt, it is among in the top seven countries in the world for quality and quantity of thermal springs with over 1000, with temperatures ranging from 20ºC to 110ºC. Most are in the Marmara and Aegean regions and because of their proximity to popular travel destinations such as Istanbul, Izmir, Pamukkale and Marmaris, public transport is easy. Many of Turkey’s historical places developed because of their springs, like the ancient city of Hieropolis which was built upon the rich mineral springs of Pamukkale, and the ancient Lydian city of Kaunos, whose people took baths in the rich mineral mud of Lake Koycegiz.

One of the most impressive is the spa resort of Pamukkale, located in the Aegean region just north of the historic town of Denizli. Its post card perfect thermal pools are naturally carved from limestone cliffs. These outdoor pools provide a perfect temperature of around 33 centigrade. You can also visit the famous ruins of the Roman city of Hieropolis. The water is good for drinking and cures many diseases such as arthritis, obesity and blood pressure. Hotel Hieropolis is the premier resort of this area.

Apart from Pamukkale, Yalova also boasts one of the most picturesque Spas. The elite Turkish because of its well-built facilities and close proximity to Istanbul favors it. Just south of Yalova lays the Ottoman Empire favorite, Cekirge. The resort has many bathing establishments in and around Bursa. Bursa is in itself a reason to travel to Cekirge. The town embodies the finest examples of Ottoman architecture and is famous for its grilled lamb.

Thermal spas spread all across Turkey. What distinguishes Turkey from its counterparts in Europe is the amazing variety of Thermal Spa. Each Spa has its unique characteristics. Kangal is famous for its nibbling fish, Sultaniye for its mud baths and Ayder for its alpine location.

Wherever you go and whatever you like, there is at least one spa that cater to your ultimate dreams.
